MAKING TZATZIKI

Making this sauce is very easy and straight forward. The sauce can be made in a very short time when all the ingredients are available. It is a go-to dip for students and faimilies with robust schedules, emergency situations and unforseen circumstances.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups Greek yogurt

  • 1 medium cucumber, grated and drained

  • 1-2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar(or 1 tablespoon lemon juice)

  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cucumber: Grate the cucumber with the large grater holes and place it in a clean cloth or paper towel. Squeeze out excess juice so that your sauce is creamy.

  2. Mix Ingredients: In a bowl, combine all ingredients: Greek yogurt, drained cucumber, minced garlic, olive oil, white wine vinegar or lemon juice, and chopped dill.

  3. Season: Add gradually a pinch of salt and pepper to taste. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.

  4. Refrigerate: Cover and chill for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld.

  5. Serve: Enjoy with pita bread, fresh veggies, or as a topping for grilled meats.

  6. Tzatziki is best enjoyed with washed hands but feel free to use any cutlery of your choice.

    ENJOY!!!

Cooking Tips: For a thicker tzatziki, use strained yogurt and also squeeze out excess juice from cucumber. You can also add a squeeze of lemon for extra brightness.

Substitutions: If you don’t have dill, mint works well too. You can also use regular yogurt if Greek yogurt is unavailable.

Servings: This recipe serves about 4-6 people as a dip.
